This month Advocates for Peace and Social Justice received a double blessing from Muslims Against Hunger. The first blessing was that Muslims Against Hunger donated six full meals (consisting of Rice, Salad, stewed chicken in Tomato sauce with savory spices, garlic bread) PLUS close to 100 fresh homemade sandwiches and three dozen fresh Dunkin’ Donuts. The second blessing was that Zamir Hassan (founder of Muslims Against Hunger) and MAH Volunteer Jamal came with me to distribute the food to our homeless friends at Journal Square, Jersey City, New Jersey. In addition to MAH’s generous donation Advocates for Peace and Social Justice donated water and a tray of rice with beef and vegetables.
It was an extremely hot and humid day. My bones were aching and I was dizzy from the heat but I am happy to report that over 60 of our homeless and needy friends were served. I am saddened that I got to into an air conditioned car and apartment while our homeless sizzled in the unrelenting heat. May GOD have mercy on the homeless.
Blessings and special thanks go out to Zamir Hassan and all of the volunteers at Muslims Against Hunger for all their donations during the past year.
