A belated Thanksgiving took place on this day for the poor and homeless of Union City and Jersey City in Hudson County New Jersey.
Volunteers gathered early in the morning to prepare the delicious meal with much love and meticulous cleanliness. Sister Kenza was the Chef this month. She baked two turkeys herself and the rest of the meal was a joint effort between her and brother Jamal who made a scrumptious stuffing. They also made mashed potatoes, gravy and string bean salad. Cranberry sauce was plentiful as was the pumpkin pie. Presentation of the meals was excellent.
We had fun in the kitchen also sharing thoughts and news about goings on in our lives. I had a fabulous time.
When all of the guests in Union City had been served sister Kenza (Coordinator of Muslims Against Hunger) donated all the leftovers to Advocates for Peace and Social Justice for distribution to the homeless at Journal Square in Jersey City.
