Zehra Toor (Coordinator of Muslims Against Hunger), and her devoted volunteers, braved the threatening storm to arrive at Union City to cook and serve meals for the homeless and needy in the area.
The meal was prepared meticulously clean and with much love. The menu consisted of freshly made white rice, lamb stew with potatoes, buttered bread, fresh fruit salad and a beverage.
All of the volunteers (including myself) were happy to be there and be of service to the community. The team is always well organized and tasks get done in a swift and coordinated manner. The kitchen is always left in very clean condition for the school’s cafeteria staff to find in the morning.
I am grateful that the threat of an approaching storm did not deter the team from arriving as usual to feed those who need it most.
