ADVOCATES FOR PEACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
STATEMENT AGAINST WAR WITH IRAN
JUNE 24, 2012
The position of Advocates for Peace and Social Justice on the matter of the United States waging war against Iran is as follows:
Advocates for Peace and Social Justice believes that diplomacy is the best approach to resolve the current conflict with Iran. A military strike by Israel and/or the United States of America would be an unprovoked and illegal act of war upon a nation that has done no harm. Such a strike would present a threat to our security greater than that posed by Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program.
Advocates for Peace and Social Justice categorically opposes any strike on Iran by the United States of America and/or Israel.
Recent history proves war has been used as a pretext for illegally invading and occupying nations for the sole purpose of colonizing Peoples and usurping national resources for the benefit of Western corporations and oil interests.
We expect the Government of the United States of America to use every means at its disposal to prevent a strike on Iran by the U.S. and/or Israel and to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the dispute over Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program.
